This song was imagined in response to Thich Nhat Hahn’s quote “all we really need to do is hear within us the sound of the earth crying.” And while the lyrics reflect our Earth Mother, they also reflect a sentiment my biological mother used to say to me.
Mum: “Jenna, you need to slow down”
I didn’t listen for decades and it led to burnout… and burnout… and burnout. Until I had to listen because my body gave up.
The destructive belief systems of Western colonial culture is weaved into our minds and bodies. In order to unlearn these, or even just become aware of them, we need to first slow down. And learn to truly, deeply listen to ourselves and others.
Listen so deeply that we allow ourselves to be transformed.
I see you Mother. I hear you Mother. Thank you, Mother. 🌎
